There are five automotive classes available to students. Auto Servicing is the first course and must be taken before a student can advance to the other four classes. In this fundamental class students will learn how an automobile runs and functions. Areas of study are: engine construction, lubrication, cooling, electrical, starting, charging, computer controls, emissions, brakes, alignment, and suspension. The students are taught routine preventative maintenance and replacing of various nonroutine parts. They will be servicing live automobiles.
The four advanced classes are: Engine Servicing, Engine Performance, Automotive Electricity and Electronics, and Brakes/Suspension classes. There are two advanced classes offered each year giving the student a possibility of having five semesters of automotive training. All courses follow the NATEF(National Automotive Technician Education Foundation) guidelines. These classes will teach the students entry level job skills and/or prepare them for a technical college.
