Dr. Seuss Theodor Seuss Geisel, known as Dr. Seuss, grew up near a zoo in Massachusetts where he loved hearing the animal noises at night from his bed. He has written and illustrated more than 100 books in which he shares the imaginary animals he has drawn and the rhyming stories he has created. Dr. Seuss died in 1991 but children all over America celebrate his birthday on March 2nd in a program called Read Across America. Visit his website!	Rosemary Wells Author/Illustrator Rosemary Wells grew up in New Jersey, near the ocean, and started drawing when she was two years old. Now she lives in New York. Her ideas for stories come from things she has observed or something that happened in her family or to her two dogs, who are white Westmoreland Terriers.
