MISSION STATEMENT: The Parent Network of Edison Middle School exists to support, educate, and inform parents on issues of concern to both parents and students.

Per Mary, they are not meeting until Tuesday, 10/05/10

New Business:

Secretary position
• Open and we need to fill. Commitment is taking minutes at each monthly Parent Network meeting.
• Chandra Fictum volunteered to take notes each meeting until we obtain one

Ice Cream Social/Open House
• Scheduled for 9-20-10.
• Helpers were added to the sign up sheets
• Stephanie and Chandra are going to have a table about the Parent Network to include sign up sheets for events coming up this year and to introduce the Parent Network and what we are all about.

Book Fair – Volunteers are needed
• Set up is October 14th
• Open dates to volunteer – Oct 18-21st
• Diary of a Wimpy Kid – preorder deal available

Teacher Appreciation Lunch
• Scheduled for Oct 12
• Parent volunteers needed
• Lisa will find out how the set up worked last year
• Chandra will assist with the lunch day of the event and wherever else needed

Teacher Appreciation Breakfast
• Scheduled for May 3, 2011
• Mary Z will make up a sign up sheet for the Ice Cream Social

Class Parties
• 6th Grade party – Scheduled for 10-22-10 – parent volunteers needed, Stephanie was given a few names and will reach out to them
• 7th Grade party – Scheduled for 02-25-11 - Stephanie and Chandra volunteered to help out
• 8th Grade party - Scheduled for 6-3-11 – parent volunteers needed, Stephanie was given a few names and will reach out to them

Dinner and a Movie
• Scheduled for 11-12-10, 1-14-11 and 3-4-11
• Tossed around having 1 for each grade
• Add to morning announcements

Healthy Heart YMCA Family Event Discussion
• Mary Z will work again this year
• Can we do it at Edison this year
• Maybe do a Saturday from 3-7 pm in February
• Mary will work with some of the gym teachers to see what we have available
• Chandra knows someone who instructs Zumba and will see if she would be willing to come and do a class or 2 during the event

Next Meeting date is Thursday, 10/7 in the Library (LMC).

Teacher Appreciation Dinner

Tuesday, October 12th, 2010

The Parent Network will be providing dinner for the Edison staff during the Parent / Teacher conferences in the afternoon of October 12th. We are in need of money and food donations as well as volunteers to help set up and clean up for this event.
All food items should be dropped off at the office by 1:00 that day. If you are interested in donating food, money or your time as a token of your appreciation, please fill out the form below and send it to the office by October 7th.
