EDISON MIDDLE SCHOOL PARENT NETWORK BYLAWS 2009-2010

MISSION STATEMENT:

The Parent Network of Edison Middle School exists to support, educate, and inform parents on issues of concern to both parents and students.

MEMBERS:

Any Edison Middle School parent/guardian can join the network by signing the agreement attached. These agreements are made available to all parents at the start of each school year and will be made available on a continued basis through the year. The network is open to all and welcomes a diversified membership reflective of families at Edison Middle School.

FUNDING:

The Edison Middle School Parent Network will be funded through a combination of Scholastic Book Fair, milk lids, box tops, Cub Food receipts, and parent donations when requested. All funds will be managed in accordance with good accounting practices by the treasurer.

DECISION MAKING:

Decisions will be made at open scheduled Parent Network meetings by the majority of members present. The principal will be informed of Network activity. Members of the board only will vote on budget items.

LEADERSHIP:

President: Attend and chair Parent Network meetings, compile an agenda for each meeting, organize/supervise special event committees.

Vice-President: Attend Parent Network meetings, chair meetings in the absence of the President, organize/supervise special event committees.

Treasurer: Attend Parent Network meetings, compile and report on financial matters. Keep an accurate financial record of the activities of the Parent Network. Make cash boxes available for special events and secure money following those activities.

Secretary: Attend Parent Network meetings, keep minutes as well as compiling information for the Parent Network newsletter to be submitted to the office once a month so that it can be printed in the Edison School newsletter.

SUPPORT wholesome activities for all students

COMMUNICATE with other parents to ensure that events inside and outside of our homes will be properly chaperoned

ENCOURAGE and SUPPORT wholesome drug and alcohol free activities.
