Welcome to the Career Center
The Career Center is designed to support the Student Services Department. Students and parents can utilize the Career Center's resources to research career options, post-secondary education, military options, scholarship opportunities, and job opportunities; take a career assessment and more. Resource materials include books, catalogs, videos, CDs, etc.
Computers are available for Internet research. Career Cruising, a valuable online research resource, is available our students. Career Cruising includes a wealth of information about careers, post-secondary schools and scholarships. It, also, includes job seeking information and resume/portfolio capability and much more.
Information about ACT, SAT, Accuplacer and ASVAB testing, college admissions, FAFSA (Free Application for Student Aid) is located in the Career Center.
Students planning to attend NWTC or Fox Valley Tech can take the Accuplacer, free of charge, in the Career Center by appointment. The ASVAB test is offered each year in October and May.
Many colleges send representatives to meet with students in the Career Center. Interested students must sign up to meet with the representatives. Military recruiters are also available during campus visits or by appointment.
Staff can draw on the Career Center resources to help develop career related lesson plans. When working on career related units, staff is welcome to send down individual students or bring in the entire class.
Students can also obtain a work permit in the Career Center. See Job Information for details.
Service Learning
Freshmen will learn about Service Learning in SOCIAL STUDIES 9: GEOGRAPHY, ECONOMICS & CIVICS. Students are encouraged to complete Service Learning hours throughout high school. Through volunteering students can learn about themselves and others, explore career opportunities, and feel personally rewarded by giving service to others. Volunteering is an important component on college, scholarship, and job applications.
Students can earn the President’s Award or Civic Engagement Awards. More information about these awards and their timeline is available in the Career Center.
The Career Center has information about volunteer opportunities and Service Learning opportunities. The verification forms are located in the Career Center and online. Completed Verification forms are turned in to the Career Center. The number of completed hours are posted on transcripts and available on Parent Connect and Student Connect. Hard copies will be kept on file in the Career Center for one year after graduation. |
