Sting Cancer
|
Mission Statement:
Green Bay Preble's "Sting Cancer" Awareness Group is a passionate and committed collaboration of high school students, faculty and staff dedicated to reducing the effects of cancer by initiating and supporting programs and activities for the school and its surrounding community.
Group Makeup:
In its initial stages our group is already made up of approximately 50 people from the Preble community. The Sting Cancer Group consists of about 80% students and 20% faculty and staff. It is a very diverse combination of people made up of all different ages, interests, and educational levels. The one common denominator among all of the group’s members is that they all have the same goal: That is to “Sting Cancer”.
Message from Sting Cancer Leader:
Hello Fellow Hornets,
As most of you know I am a cancer survivor and I recently lost my Father to cancer. I have done a lot of work with the American Cancer society and many other worthy causes that fight this terrible disease. In an effort to continue this fight, I thought why not use Preble and all of its resources.
I have decided that I want to start a group (of both faculty and students) that would meet maybe once a month and try and find ways to help our community and people within it that are victimized by cancer. As we all know, both those with cancer and their families and friends are often times deeply affected in one way or another.
This group would find different ways for the Hornets to "STING CANCER".
I was thinking of monthly meetings with different speakers, topics. Etc. I was also interested in helping students deal with cancer in their individual lives, and help them and their loved ones find ways to better handle this terrible roadblock in life.
Health & Happiness,
Thanks, Nick Nesvacil
